Knitted terry knitted and dyed by the Lucky group

Fabric

Knitted terry fabric manufacturer

Terry is the fabric this group was built around. We knit it, dye it, finish it and sew it — so the pile you approve in a sample is the pile that arrives in the carton.

Knitted terry fabric knitted, dyed and finished in-house in Tiruppur

Knitted terry is made by feeding a third yarn into the knitting cycle so it forms uncut loops on one face of the fabric. Those loops are what give terry its absorbency, its weight and its particular softness — and they are also what makes it difficult. Pile height has to stay even across the roll, the loops must survive dyeing without matting, and finishing has to set the fabric without crushing what you have just made.

That is why terry gets its own processing route inside the group. Lucky Terry Processors handles pile constructions separately from flat knits, because a fabric with a raised surface behaves nothing like single jersey in a dye bath or under a compactor. Soft-flow dyeing keeps the fabric moving in a low-tension rope so the pile is not flattened, and finishing is set to stabilise width and shrinkage without pressing the loops down.

We knit terry plain, yarn-dyed into stripes, and as jacquard where the pattern is built into the pile itself. Weights run from a light 220 gsm for summer tees and baby wear up to 420 gsm for robes and heavy hoodies. If you need a weight or a loop density that is not on this page, it is a knitting-machine setting rather than a new supplier — send us the target and we will knit a swatch.
