Knitted corduroy knitted and dyed by the Lucky group

Fabric

Knitted corduroy manufacturer

All the visual language of corduroy — the wales, the shadow, the autumn feel — in a fabric that stretches, drapes and washes like a knit.

Knitted corduroy fabric knitted, dyed and finished in-house in Tiruppur

Woven corduroy is stiff, heavy and slow to sew. Knitted corduroy reproduces the raised vertical wales as a knit structure instead, which keeps the look and loses most of the drawbacks. The fabric has natural give, so garments move with the body without pattern-cutting tricks; it is lighter for its visual weight; and it goes through a knitwear sewing line at knitwear speed.

Wale count is the variable that changes the character most. A wide, chunky wale reads as workwear and needs a heavier base; a fine wale reads as tailored and works down to 240 gsm. We set wale spacing on the machine, so a sample in the wale you actually want is a short job rather than a sourcing exercise.

It takes colour beautifully — the raised wales catch light and create a self-shadow that makes solid shades look richer than they do on a flat fabric. Rust, plum, olive and charcoal are the shades buyers reorder most from this quality.
